Our Process
People often ask what’s involved in our etching process. The video below provides a brief demonstration to give you a better idea of what goes into transforming ordinary glass into extraordinary masterpieces.
It all begins with a sketch
After applying vinyl to protect the glass surfaces, we sketch the client’s custom design so you can get an idea how everything will look and if any adjustments need to be made.
Next, we cut shapes into the vinyl following the lines and guides we made in pencil from the sketching phase. This helps to keep everything consistent. Then we can begin pulling or ‘weeding’ sections of the cut vinyl.
Which leads to the best part… The etching! Using layering techniques, we repeat a process of weeding and blasting, section by section, until the entire piece is completed. Finally, we clean up the glass and take a moment to admire our work.
